Drawing the Head, Hands, and Feet | Jul 10 to Sep 18 (No class Sept 4 for Labor Day Holiday) | [10] Mondays | 6:30p - 9:30p Evenings | This class will develop a subtle understanding of the construction of the head, hands, and feet. This will include a study of the planes, forms and volumes, and the structure of the bones and muscles to show how they interact dynamically, creating action and character. The instructional book, “Head Shot,” by Karl Gnass is a required manual for this class. If you don’t have this book you can purchase it the first day of class from the instructor. Essential Folds and Costume | Jul 12 to Sep 13 | [10] Wednesdays | 6:30p - 9:30p Evening | We’ll be drawing with clear-cut ideas on the active folds, observing and exploring how they work and participate in expressing action. We’ll address the confusions, cover the role of passive folds, wrinkles, design and shape, and costume as character. | $335 |
Active Anatomy | Jul 13 to Sep 14 | [10] Thursday | 6:30p - 9:30p Evenings | Featuring fundamental to advanced techniques. We’ll cover key drawing concepts, structure, observing and organizing form, procedures and approaches, line of action, story and gesture, figure construction and anatomy, the understanding and description of difficult poses, advanced figure studies with long poses using the basic theories of modeling form, analysis of the old masters - composition, design, and drawing techniques. There will be lectures, demos, and personal attention. All skill levels are welcome. | $335 |
Figure Drawing: Fundamentals to Advanced | Jul 15 to Sep 16 | [10] Saturdays | 10:30a - 1:30p Mornings | A basic foundation class featuring figure drawing mechanics. Emphasis on description of form, gesture, structure, anatomy dynamics, and the figure as story. The goal is to develop the ability to draw with skill and imagination. There will be lectures, demos, and personal attention. This is a class for all levels. | $335 |
